She almost didn’t make it.
Pulled up, weakened, nearly gone. For a moment, I thought the desert rose would be just another loss.
But she held on. Slowly, stubbornly, she rose again — until her branches filled with buds, until her colours returned.

“She was almost lost, but she chose to rise again.”
And then, something even more beautiful happened. From the seeds she gave me, I planted new life — tiny, fragile, unsure. And now, one of those seeds has opened into bloom, carrying her legacy forward.

“From survival came legacy — her colours multiplied, her story carried on.”
The desert rose teaches me more than gardening ever could.
That life can be harsh, but beauty returns. That survival is strength, but legacy is hope.
✨ Today, I don’t just see one desert rose. I see a mother and her child, singing the same song in two different voices — proof that resilience doesn’t end with one bloom.

That is ever so lovely Daisy
When I was at my daughters last weekend, her desert rose is decidedly in poor shape. Your post gives me hope that she can rescue it and get it back to how it was years ago.
Good day, Bushboy.
They will soon be in full bloom. This one on that post needed repotting, pulled it out but I forgotten all about them, there was also another one with softer base and was definitely dying. The growth was faster on this one than the other one, so happy to see them survived
Are they in full sun?
Oh yes aways in the full sun at least 6 hours or that’s what I learn from the Brisbane Desert Roses Group, Don’t need to much of watering either.
I thought so. She doesn’t feel safe putting it where it can get full sun in case it gets stolen 🙄
Her balcony in Lismore was the best for the Desert Rose. North facing
Oh I see, at least it the desert rose gets 5 hours is good too. But some people are not to be trusted thought. I hope she can find a way to get some lights on them. I have backyard that is full of sunshine. Last years blooms were so good on that same one I posted.
Trouble is it would out the front and lots of people walk past every day
That’s sad .. but hey you never know here DR might bloom yet.
