The Banksia That Kept Growing

Not every story in the garden begins with perfect conditions.

Sometimes a plant is knocked sideways, its roots disturbed, and you wonder if it will ever recover. For a while, that’s exactly how my Banksia looked.

I wasn’t sure what would happen next.

But nature has a quiet way of reminding us that growth isn’t always dramatic. It happens slowly—one new leaf, one new branch, one season at a time.

Today, as I walked around the garden, I realised just how much it has grown. It isn’t simply surviving anymore; it’s finding its strength again.

Perhaps that’s why I enjoy gardening so much. Plants don’t complain about the setbacks they face. They simply keep growing whenever they can.

The Banksia has become more than another tree in my garden.

It has become a reminder that setbacks don’t always have the final word.

Sometimes the most meaningful growth happens after the hardest season.
